As everyone (myself included) is enjoying their extra day off this weekend, I just wanted to take a second to thank all of our veterans and active service men and women. Regardless of what your political views are, these men and women are and have been protecting our country and our freedoms in war and in peace. Thank you for giving yourselves to keep us safe.
I have several family members who gave some sort of military service (including my dad, who was a military policeman in the Army), but I wanted to give a special shout out to my Opa, who served in the Marines. Love you, Opa!

hooray for veterans! my grandpa was a truck driver for the army during WWII. turns out he helped liberate Dachau–my sister wrote a really amazing report on the holocaust using some of his eyewitness testimony.
