From whattoexpect.com:
Have you ever seen a mango dipped in cheese? Well, that’s what your baby looks like this week due to a little growth spurt (she’s about a half pound in weight and six inches long) and a substance called vernix caseosa. This greasy white stuff covers your baby’s skin, protecting it from the surrounding amniotic fluid. (Without it, she’d look totally wrinkled as she entered the world.) The vernix sheds as delivery approaches, though some babies still sport a bit of the coating at birth.
How far along: 19 weeks
Total weight gain: -4 pounds – The ultrasound tech actually said she had an easy time getting pictures because I was “nice and thin”. That was pretty awesome since I’m not usually grouped into this category. I’ll probably start gaining this week a bit – my goal is 1/2 to 1 pound per week until the third trimester.
How big is baby?: 6 inches, 8.5 ounces (although during the ultrasound this week, he was 9 ounces already!)
Maternity clothes?: I’m so frustrated with maternity clothes. I hate buying clothes online, but there isn’t really a selection here. The Motherhood store only has so many things (and some are very pricey) and the Old Navy Maternity was extremely disappointing with maybe 3 different shirts and two different pants. I guess I’ll have to start buying online, ugh.
Β
Stretch marks?: Nope.
Symptoms?Β I really haven’t felt any symptoms this week at all. I’m enjoying this part of my pregnancy since the beginning was so bad!
Sleep?:Β Sleep has been good, but I’ve also been able to sleep as much as I’ve wanted all week due to spring break π
Best moment this week?: Getting to see Clark for the first time (and finding out that he is a boy)! And, man, is he an active little boy already! During the checkup, the midwife found his heartbeat almost instantly but then he realized he was getting pressed on and ran away to the other side of my stomach. She had to try for three more minutes to find his heartbeat again. During the ultrasound, he put on a show for us – profiling his face, he made sucking motions, which were so clear on the screen and cool to see. He kept stretching and moving his arms and legs, crossing them, rolling over onto his side. Everytime she’d try to take a picture of his face, he’d bury his head in the placenta so you couldn’t see it (we did get one hard-to-see nose and mouth shot, though), and when she wanted to take a picture of his feet and couldn’t get them well, he must’ve heard her lol because he pushed both of his feet forward clear as day and we got a great picture. I never realized how vivid ultrasounds are, because those little printoffs don’t do what you see on the screen justice. And it’s really nice to know that everything is fine – he has all the needed structures in all the right places at a great growth rate. ***sigh*** We’re in love.
Movement?:Β Still no kicking, although he does get really active about 20-30 minutes after I eat, which makes me feel him move around a lot. I can’t wait until I can feel more of the movement!
Food cravings?: No really strong cravings. I think it’s because my diet is fairly balanced and my body doesn’t really need one thing or another more than anything else.
Labor signs?: Not even close.
Belly button in or out?: In.
What I miss: I don’t really miss anything this week. It’s all worth it π
What I’m nervous about: I’m not nervous about anything – we know our little guy is doing great!
What I am looking forward to: I can’t wait to hold little Clark in my arms! Right now, though, I’m looking forward to whipping the nursery into shape!
Milestone: Next week will be half way, and we found out it’s a boy! Clark Allen π
baby baby baby baby baby! can you explain the difference between 3-d and 4-d ultrasounds?
I don't know – we didn't have a 4-d because it was extra. But Google the pictures – they are really weird.

Check kohl's, meijer, and target. they have a small selection of maternity clothes (only a few styles) but at least they are usually a bit different than the style you'll find at the other store. btw, congrats on having a boy π
